Demon Hunter have been one of my favorite bands ever since I listened to their fifth album “The World Is A Thorn” a few years ago.

I’ve always found it quite difficult to categorize their style of music. There are lots of Metalcore elements in their music, as well as influences from Melodic Death and Thrash Metal. I think you could call their style Melodic Groove Metal or something like that.

In the end it doesn’t even matter what genre of Metal they play, as long as the music is good. And thus far I can’t find a single album in their discography that I didn’t like. Their style changed over the years but every album was great on its own way.

Their eighth full length record “Outlive” is no exception. While many fans will probably dislike the rather soft tone of the album, I think of it differently. The album has absolutely fantastic melodies (some of the best they’ve ever written, imo), great lyrics, superb solos, and, while being generally very melodic, there are still some incredibly groovy and aggressive tracks.

I am sure that if you are a fan of the band you will love this album. And if you haven’t listened to them yet, and you love melodic, yet groovy Metal, you should definitely check this record out.
